SUMMARY

Oversee and maintain the enterprise networked computing environment ensuring peak performance and compliance with industry standard practices while maximizing efficiency for service staff and members. Analyze, design, test, and evaluate network systems such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranet, internet, and other data communication systems. Set up, configure, and support internal and external networks. Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. Develop and maintain all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability. Troubleshoot network performance issues and maintains the disaster recovery plan. Recommend and install upgrades, patches, new applications, and equipment. Provide technical support and guidance for users. May lead other network support and Help Desk, and plan, coordinate and implement network security measures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, security and peripheral devices
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
  • Evaluate options/methods to reduce cost, consolidating infrastructure, assisting with purchasing and recommending new technologies/equipment and upgrades to existing equipment
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and upkeep of corporate servers and server applications.
  • Support all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, firewall and IPS utilizing vendor provided managed services when necessary
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations
  • Administer security patches and upgrades to VMWare hosts and SAN infrastructure
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
  • Perform system backups and recovery
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure (e.g. servers, routers, switches, firewalls, VOIP phones, printers, and cabling), ensuring peak utilization of network resources and that quality of service and uptime goals are met
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Support all existing data, voice and internet circuits
  • Maintain the Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS (site creation and permissions and SSL certificate management) and Exchange infrastructure
  • Protect the integrity and security of the Credit Union network, data, and workstations
  • Stabilize, Standardize, and Simplify (S3) technology infrastructure and applications to optimize support resources
  • Troubleshoot server and server application issues

Qualifications

For a level 1:  Microsoft technical/ CompTIA Network + certification or work experience with Windows systems and software administration in a production environment, unless skills are deemed appropriate by the VP of Technology Services.  Associate’s Degree in a related technology related field preferred.  See required duties.  The Network Administrator I is expected to advance to level II duties in a reasonable period of time.

 

For a level 2:  Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist or extensive experience with Windows systems and software administration in a production environment required, unless skills are deemed appropriate by the VP of Technology Services.  Bachelor’s Degree in a related technology related field preferred.  See required duties.

 

For a level 3:  Microsoft Certified System Engineer or expert experience with Windows systems and software administration in a production environment, unless skills are deemed appropriate by the VP of Technology Services.  Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in a related technology related field preferred.  See required duties.
