 SUMMARY

  • Responsible for integrating the policies and procedures of the Board of Directors into the daily operations of the Collections Department.
  • Under the direction of the Collection Department Manager, the Assistant Collection Manager is accountable for managing, coordinating, and monitoring the day-to-day operations for the Collection Department's activities to ensure internal and external service levels, production standards, and acceptable delinquency/loss levels are achieved while remaining in compliance with legal and Credit Union standards.
  • Responsibilities will include managing all phases of collection work, i.e. Consumer, VISA, Mortgage, and negative balances.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and the Right to Financial Privacy Act.  
  • Ensures that collection policies, procedures, practices and documentation meet federal and state guidelines
  • Assists with managing the daily activity of the Collection Department personnel. 
  • Responsible for interviewing and hiring recommendations, providing training, creating work schedules and performing any disciplinary actions
  • Develops and maintains a strong team environment, demonstrated through a committed enthusiastic, results driven staff.
  • Coaches and develops staff, ensures performance management activities are initiated and completed for all staff.
  • Reviews staff work on a regular basis to ensure that day to day policies and procedures are followed and productivity levels are maintained
  • Acts as a first level of assistance / contact for all collector position issues
  • Meets production goals; track results and provide reporting to management as scheduled and requested – to include monthly board reports and quarterly CALL reports (5300)
  • Recommends accounts for charge off to the Collection Department Manager
  • Determines and recommend accounts for legal action, repossession and settlement within established authority.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of expertise around the credit union’s collection software, Temenos.
  • Continuously works to improve system processes, workflow and procedures, maximizing staff efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors fraudulent loan and account activities.
  • Manages operational aspects of third-party early and mid-stage collection activities as well as vendors working charged off accounts.
  • Assists with creating monthly incentives and contests for the collectors
  • Handles severely delinquent loans and special cases
  • Recommends loans to Member Solutions for rewrite or restructure
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Four years or more years of related experience in consumer loan collections.
  • Two years or more of management experience and/or applicable supervisory training.
