    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with GAAP and interpreting regulatory guidance to maintain several systems used in the operational management and analysis of financial data for NASA Federal and/or the Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs)
    • Collaborates with various external and internal technical/functional contacts to improve financial reporting and analysis systems
    • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare ledger entries; documenting business transactions
    • Prepares and analyzes financial statements, documenting and substantiating period to period variances for NASA Federal and/or the CUSOs
    • Assists with completing the NCUA Call Report
    • Performs preparatory work prior to internal/annual audits and regulatory examinations of the Credit Union and/or CUSOs and remains an active resource during the audit/examination
    • Creates and maintains procedures
    • Assists with special accounting assignments as needed



    Education and /or Experience, needed for Technical Accountant:

    • Relevant coursework or Associates degree in Accounting; with at least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Relies on experience and judgment; requiring minimal supervision
    • Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles that include work that is analytical, creative, evaluative and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice


    Other Skills and Abilities, needed for Technical Accountant: 

    • Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data proficient
    • Microsoft Office Suite and use of Accounting systems such as Peachtree and/or Quicken
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment driven by deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty
    • Person must be diligent and self- motivated with attention to detail
    • Expert level written, and verbal skills required. Proven experience with collaborating with various external and internal technical and/or functional contacts
